Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar added up greater than 100 runs for the fifth wicket on the fifth day of the fourth Check between India and England in Manchester.

Their partnership is now the best fifth wicket stand for India within the ultimate innings of an away Check. The earlier file belonged to Mohammed Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly, who put collectively 110 runs towards Sri Lanka in 1997.

That is solely the fourth time there’s been a 100-plus partnership by an Indian pair in such a situation.

Highest fifth-wicket partnership in final innings of an away Check:

2) Azharuddin-Sourav Ganguly – 110 vs Sri Lanka, Colombo 1997

3) VVS Laxman-Sachin Tendulkar – 109 vs Sri Lanka, Colombo 2010

4) Ganguly-Yuvraj Singh – 103 vs Pakistan, Karachi 2006

5) Azharuddin-Sanjay Manjrekar – 70 vs Australia 1992
