American Reilly Opelka knocked out defending champion Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on Wednesday to succeed in the quarterfinals of the grass-court occasion at Newport, Rhode Island.

Opelka is enjoying his first ATP match in virtually two years. The American, who acquired a wild card into the match, fired 19 aces to enhance to 4-0 in opposition to Frenchman Mannarino.
