Brazilian umpire Antonio Casa has been suspended for seven years and 6 months after admitting to expenses of corruption and betting-related violations, the Worldwide Tennis Integrity Company (ITIA) mentioned on Monday.
The national-level official was additionally fined $8,000 and given a suspended penalty of $17,001 for breaching the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP), the ITIA added.
“Casa admitted to seven breaches of the TACP, together with making an attempt to commit a corruption offence, manipulation of match scoring for betting functions, and facilitation of betting,” the ITIA mentioned.
The suspended umpire might be barred from officiating or attending any tennis occasion authorised or sanctioned by ITIA members till September 27, 2031.
