Faf du Plessis to overlook upcoming IPL season to take part in PSL

South African cricket Faf du Plessis has introduced that he won’t be a part of the upcoming IPL 2026 public sale, and can participate within the Pakistan Tremendous League (PSL) in 2026 as an alternative.

“This league has been a large a part of my journey. I’ve been fortunate to play with world-class teammates, for superb franchises, and in entrance of followers whose ardour is like nothing else. India has given me friendships, classes, and recollections which have formed me as a cricketer and as an individual,” the 41-year-old stated in a press release posted on Instagram.

Du Plessis performed 9 video games for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, scoring 202 runs at a mean of twenty-two.44. Delhi Capitals was the fourth franchise he appeared for, after Chennai Tremendous Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

He has featured in a complete 154 IPL matches, scoring 4773 runs at a mean of 35.09.

Du Plessis confirmed that he’ll participate within the 2026 version of the PSL as an alternative, describing the transfer as a “new problem” for him. He has appeared within the PSL in two earlier seasons, showing for Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in a complete of six matches.
