The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) banned former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan from bowling in competitions run by the board resulting from his unlawful bowling motion.
“Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been suspended from bowling in ECB competitions following an impartial evaluation of his bowling motion,” ECB stated in a launch.
Shakib’s motion was reported by the standing umpires whereas he was taking part in for Surrey within the County Championship match towards Somerset in September.
The 37-year-old accomplished an impartial evaluation at Loughborough College earlier this month, which discovered that the elbow extension in his bowling motion exceeded the 15 diploma threshold as outlined within the Laws.
The ECB stated that the suspension has taken impact from the receipt of the impartial evaluation on 10 December 2024, and follows the method set out within the ECB’s Laws for the Assessment of Bowlers Reported with a Suspected Unlawful Bowling Motion.
“Shakib is ineligible to bowl in ECB competitions till he has handed an impartial re-assessment of his bowling motion,” the discharge additional added.
