A document seventh-wicket stand by Amy Jones and Charlie Dean helped bail England out of bother and safe a four-wicket win over New Zealand in Wellington on Monday within the first One-Day Worldwide of a three-match sequence.
After being put in to bat, New Zealand posted a complete of 207 and took wickets at a constant price early on to go away England reeling at 79 for six.
England was ultimately rescued by Jones (92 not out) and Dean (42 not out), who guided the customer over the end line with their assured partnership.
The unbeaten 130-run stand between the pair bettered the earlier document of 122 between India’s Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar in opposition to Pakistan in a 2022 Ladies’s World Cup match at Mount Maunganui.
“Me and Deano had been continually saying, ‘one ball at a time’ and ‘simply react’, which stored us within the second. I assumed we performed with freedom and did what we got down to,” Jones informed reporters.
“For that to repay, (this innings) ranks fairly extremely I’d say.
”The groups meet within the second ODI at Seddon Park in Hamilton, New Zealand on Thursday.
