Bopanna-Ebden advance to Miami Open quarterfinals

Indian tennis participant Rohan Bopanna and his Australian companion Matthew Ebden moved to the boys’s doubles quarterfinals of the Miami Open with a hard-fought win in opposition to Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski.

Prime seeds Bopanna and Ebden toiled for one hour 39 minutes earlier than pulling off a 7-5, 7-6 (3) win over Monegasque Nys and Poland’s Zielinski within the second spherical of the ATP Masters 1000 on Monday evening.

The 43-year-old Bopanna and Ebden will tackle Australia’s John Patrick Smith and Netherlands Sem Verbeek.

The reigning Australian Open champions hit 4 aces and gained 84 per cent (37/44) of their first serve factors.

The match was contested on a good keel. Bopanna and Ebden broke Nys and Zielinski within the eleventh recreation to take a 6-5 lead. They then fought off a late problem, saving a few break factors earlier than taking the twelfth recreation and the opening set.

There was not a lot separating the 2 pairs within the second set as effectively with each of them holding serve until 6-6 to take the match to the tiebreaker.

However a double fault by Nys and Zielinski led to their downfall because the Indo-Australian duo capitalised on it to take the set and the match.
